Right in our own backyards of Bedford-Stuyvesant, East New York, Flatbush, and many more neighborhoods of Brooklyn, we are witnessing a groundswell of contemporary artists and intellectuals whose work is carving an important place in our history books. Their contributions to our national discourse should be highlighted now, while they are still residents! On December 18, 2017, the Richard Beavers Gallery and BK Reader held the first-ever "Conversations in the Gallery” series with celebrated visual artist, Frank Morrison as a guest. The event was at capacity and well-received by local residents. To kick off 2018, Fabiola Jean Louis, a Haitian-born fine artist, will be our next guest to another sold out group on Thursday, January 18. The goal is to create and promote a solid calendar of influential artists and intellectuals in Brooklyn who align with our mission of sparking thoughtful conversations around art, literature, fashion, lifestyle and culture. Each event is supported by an effective public relations and social media marketing campaign, as well as a feature on BKReader.com, a daily news site covering the communities of East and Central Brooklyn.
